Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of my favourite bed time stories. Everybody loves Snow White, and everybody hates the witch, it is how we are positioned as the reader to react. I saw earlier today a beautiful piece of digital art by Cosmopavone entitled Sweet Revenge. So now I propose a different view. Think about it honestly, how would you feel if you had one thing? One thing which you were better at than anyone in the entire world?  You worked hard and became the best photographer or artist or author. Then, out of no where some girl who doesn’t even have to try becomes better than you. The one thing that made you special, the one thing that made you different is stripped away. She made you second best. Ok, so one would have to admit that the girl had no choice in the matter, and how could one work hard to be beautiful? When I was younger I used to watch my Gran smother her face with cream after cream to keep her skin wrinkle free, which to my surprise she still is. Can you imagine the Queen slaving away to appear beautiful and youthful, lest her husband lose his interest in her and have her thrown out. We are told in the story how evil the witch is, but where in the story does the King intervene? Does he miss his daughter, the only living reminder of his first wife? No, he does nothing. He leaves his desperate wife, who is trying to live up to the reputation of his first wife, to make a rash decision. I am not trying to say that the queen is with out blame, but one should think twice before calling her evil.
