For just a moment by ~njade:iconnjade:

So there he was; rich, handsome and successful. His deep chestnut eyes made any girl give into his charm. His brown tasselled locks that give you the urge to run your fingers through them, and his wide, strong shoulders tell you that you belong in his arms. David is completely surrounded by the world’s most beautiful women. That is an understatement, more like everything that you could ever want in a woman. Rich fathers, short skirts, great bodies, brains... If you want them, but David never did. Their toothpaste commercial smiles as they told him that they could be his forever. But none of them he fancied in particular; to him they were all the same, like some mass produced Barbie which is good for no more than a one night stand. David was in his late twenties now, he had, had enough women for 3 men 3 times his age, but tonight as he was surveying the crowd of which one of the women would he treat to life’s greatest pleasure, something caught his eye.

Well someone if you want to get technical. A woman. She wasn’t exactly beautiful, but there was something attractive about her. The shadow beneath her eyes that began to draw him in. It seemed not as if she was tired, but if the shadow was there as a shield, to protect her. She was not with his party obviously; she acted as if she was from another world entirely. Her casual dress was not showing off all of her skin as he was used to, and from what he could tell her skin tone was far from even, her body far from perfect. Her auburn hair, wild compared to the slick New York City hair styles that surrounded her. She was… different. Something in her eyes, as he tried to look past the shadow made him see great pain and suffering, and at that moment he wanted nothing more than to take her in his arms and hold her close. He wanted to whisper in her ear one thousand promises of love, truth and happiness; he wanted to tell her it would be ok. Most of all he wanted to tell her that she would be his forever more. These were words he had said one thousand times to one thousand women, but this time he would mean them. If only she would look up and see his eyes filled of love and surly she would return his feelings.

He looked down at his drink “What the hell do they put in these things” he thought to himself. He gulped the rest of the drink down, wiped his mouth and decided on the Bimbo trying to figure out how to answer her cell phone who was obviously quite intoxicated already, half his work done for him.

Across the room a young woman with auburn hair looked up, she had felt someone watching her, but as she scanned across the room, she decided she must have been mistaken, so she exited the bar to try and find her father at another one of his usual haunts.
